Increasing usability by using AJAX for front end and back end forms in TYPO3

Unser Beitrag der offiziellen internationalen TYPO3 Konferenz in Karlsruhe geht dieses Jahr über AJAX:

AJAX is already a big issue in web development. A long time ago everyone started talking about it and was delighted by the power of Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. But for most of us, it is still uncharted terrain. But TYPO3 has got useful ideas upon that topic and you can learn how to increase usability for your systems by using AJAX for front and back end.

We will discuss the potentials and challenges of AJAX in general, and the most important AJAX interfaces available under GPL. We will show so-called Killer Applications to give you the latest status of enhanced web development, as well as easy practical examples that also give you an idea how to go beyond the ordinary. Learn all the TYPO3 interfaces, tricks and best practice for using AJAX in front end and back end and get inspired by discovering new possibilities in TYPO3 programming. The lecture also gives you a view inside existing AJAX extensions and how they work. But you will also see what the basic idea is behind it and how easy it is to fit AJAX to your needs and implement them to your extensions.

For the advanced among you, the most interesting topics will be how to set up AJAX driven form fields to the TCA (Table Configuration Array) and to see some nice extensions providing AJAX enhancements for the core. Furthermore you will learn how to use AJAX properly in front end forms and extensions by using interfaces provided by TYPO3. Beginners will have a deep insight into the whole subject. Especially the extensions tut_unobtrusiveajax, nh_tvdragndrop, doc-q-cart and rgtabs should be interesting to everyone. At the end of the lecture there will be a discussion about planned and desired AJAX features in future versions of the TYPO3 core and a foresight into 5.0.
